The startup asset class must be strengthened if Germany is to become a strong centre of innovation. Although direct investments by family offices have increased in recent years, there is still significant room for improvement. To date, only around a third of financing in start-ups has come from family offices. However, the ‘startup’ asset class is now part of a balanced asset management mix in every family office portfolio.
I connect family offices with successful and scalable start-ups. Through various investment vehicles of my own, such as Scale Now Ventures and two private business investment clubs, I invest myself and at the same time create numerous high-potential investment opportunities for family offices.
For many family offices, financing start-ups harbours numerous risks and is therefore a barrier to entry. I support family offices as an advisor and work with them to find the right investment that fits their investment strategy, including a risk assessment.
As an investor, I focus on companies that use innovative technological solutions to disrupt existing, traditional industries and change them in a future-oriented and sustainable way. With my entrepreneurial mindset and my many years of expertise as an investor, I identify potential investments in terms of innovative strength, scalability and sustainability.
